Damiana Tea**

Origin: Mexico

Damiana is a shrub native to Central and South America that blooms with small yellow flowers. Its active constituents include: numerous small amounts of terpenes, the antimicrobial substance arbutin and alkaloids. Damiana is also high in phosphorus, which may contribute to its energizing ability. Its leaves are used for their medicinal effects that range from stimulant to anti-depressant to yang tonic. Damiana has been hailed as an aphrodisiac since ancient times, particularly by the native peoples of Mexico. Other folk uses have included treating asthma, bronchitis, neurosis and various sexual disorders. It has also been promoted as a euphoria-inducing substance at various times and improves orgasmic ability, boosts nerve sensitivity and strengthens the reproductive system.
