The god Krishna is said to “inhabit” patchouli. Patchouli oil is obtained from the dried leaves of the plant. Its properties for skin include: antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, astringent, cell regenerating, deodorizing, fungicidal and vulnerary. Patchouli oil is healing for: acne, dermatitis, eczema, fungal and bacterial infections, inflamed skin, insect bites, seborrhea, scalp disorders, scars, sores, stretch marks and wrinkles. Recommended for dry, dehydrated, tired, mature, wrinkled and oily skin. Patchouli has diuretic properties and is therefore helpful for water retention and cellulite. Additional uses include: hair conditioner for dreadlocks and insect repellant. Patchouli oil is described as a deep, woody top-middle-base note with a camphoraceous top note and musty, earthy, chocolate-like sweet undernote. One of the most masculine of the essential oils, patchouli is aphrodisiac, calming and relaxing. Emotional benefits include ease of: anger, anxiety, depression, exhaustion, fear, fatigue, indecision, shyness and stress.
