World Kindness Day

“Be kind whenever possible. It is always possible.”
- Dalai Lama

Tibetan Buddhists have a meditation practice called metta bhavana. In the Pali language, metta translates to love, friendliness, or kindness. Bhavana means cultivation. Hence, this is the practice of cultivating loving kindness.

Imagine if it was as easy to love yourself as it is to judge yourself! Imagine if it was literally impossible to send a critical thought your own way. While that might not be possible without some real work, this World Kindness Day we’re going to be kind to ourselves first. Here’s how:

1. Listening – Today we’re paying attention to the messages we send ourselves. If they’re anything less than loving, they’re out. Sorry self-criticism, you’ll have to come back another day.

2. Appreciating – “Thank you for getting out of bed and adulting all day like a true superhero.” – Us (speaking to ourselves)

3. Accepting – Remember that time you forgave someone because, even though they made a mistake, you knew they were doing their best? Well, that’s us, today, to ourselves.

4. Care – Kindness toward others cannot happen unless we are willing to care for ourselves. We use the phrase Human Care to describe our company’s commitment to sourcing the best ingredients from the most caring, ethical farmers. While our care for the planet and our partners is genuine, we also do this because we want the best for ourselves! Prioritizing plenty of rest, water, good food, and some truly non-toxic, deeply nourishing Bodycare products are some of the best ways we can think of to love ourselves.

Happy World Kindness Day. We hope something really great happens to you.
